Hi. My name is Ady and I’m a painter and decorator based in Loughton, Milton Keynes. As you can probably work out from my business name, "Mrs Paintbrush", I am a female painter and decorator – something that Milton Keynes has a shortage of!
"There is definitely a gap in the market for female decorators and I have found that a lot of my customers prefer the prospect of a woman working in their homes as we can be a lot less intimidating than men – and a lot tidier too!
"I take great pride in my work and hopefully the results speak for themselves. I pay a great deal of attention to detail and the finished product. This all starts from the preparation – if you fail to prepare properly, you prepare to fail. I may take a little longer on your project but the quality of the finished work makes it all worthwhile.
"To let you know a bit about my background, after leaving art college I did an Applied Arts degree at Derby University, where I focussed on making objects in glass. This led to an apprenticeship in Italy where I learned about designing and making stained glass, which was a fantastic experience as well as giving me a huge appreciation for colour and design. When I decided to take up interior decoration I learned the tools of the trade and also the basics in running my own business through Women's Builders in Bletchley.
"My artistic background is an important factor in my work and in particular for the design service I offer. I have a great eye for colour, fabrics, accessories and “how to dress a room”, and can help advise you on your chosen colour schemes and themes. Furthermore I can suggest and source different materials that you might not have thought of – there is a whole world away from the mainstream DIY stores!
